Did you know that knee injury is one of the most common reported injuries?

It affects those in high impact sports, including those who run, jump, and those in team sports. As we age because of the tension and pressure that our knees have been absorbing for many years they are often one of the first to show effects. Knees can also feel pain due to more serious illnesses like osteoporosis or arthritis.

 

Fortunately, knee joint injections are a common and straightforward remedy to much of the pain we feel in our knees.

There are 3 main categories of Knee Injections:

Corticosteroid injections
This is often the first injection treatment tried by my patients for their knees. It is so effective they can be used to delay more serious surgeries or replacements. It can typically provide anti-inflammatory effects and reduce or eliminate pain for a few months post-injection.

Gel injections
Gel Injections are otherwise known as Hyaluronic acid Injection helps specifically with osteoporosis and restoring fluids into the joins to prevent heavy friction, shocks, and provide more lubricant in your movements. It can be expected to reduce inflammation and providing relief to the nerve and joint. And can last for up to 5 months.

Platelet-rich plasma injections
PRP injections are used to treat pain in the joints, including the knees. Platelets and blood are used to promote healing in the soft tissue around and inside the knees to reduce inflammation. They can last up to 6 months.
